Buying SAEs

How many dinged and scratched coins would you expect in a tube of 20 silver eagles? Picked up a tube yesterday; top coin looked great (photo), the others, not so much.

Re: Buying SAEs
I would expect none, or almost none. They shouldn't be dinged up unless, like j-son said, someone took them out, looked through them, and put them back.
If it was a "mixed date" roll, I would expect some dings. If it was a 2007 roll, no reason for the coins to be less than perfect. |
Re: Buying SAEs
I agree with the posts already posted..........
HOWEVER - that said - bear in mind - the mint sometimes does a fairly crappy job, and coins minted end up getting "spit" into a huge pile in a basket before going into tubes - so sometimes coins DO have dings - which is why not all new coins are MS 79 or even 69. I had two new eagles graded - straight from the mint - one was MS 69, the other MS 67!!! |
